How to Add an AI Chatbot to Your Website in Under 5 Minutes

No developers. No code. No training documents. Here is how to add an AI chatbot to any website in less time than it takes to make coffee.

Most business owners think adding AI to their website requires a developer, a six-figure budget, and three months of setup. They picture themselves sitting in meetings about "conversation flows" and "decision trees" and "API integrations." They hear "artificial intelligence" and assume it is not for them. Not yet. Not at their size. Not without a tech team.

They are wrong. The whole process takes less time than making a cup of coffee.

The old way vs. the new way

Traditional chatbots are a project. A real, time-consuming, pull-your-hair-out project. You start by mapping out every possible question a visitor might ask. Then you write a response for each one. Then you build a decision tree that connects those questions and responses into something resembling a conversation. Then you test it, realize it sounds like a robot reading from a script, and start over.

That is before you even get to the technical side. Connecting your CRM. Setting up webhooks. Configuring triggers. Writing fallback responses for when the bot gets confused (which is constantly). Most small business owners abandon the setup halfway through. The ones who finish end up with a chatbot that says "I did not understand that. Please choose from the following options" more often than it actually helps anyone.

Mika works differently. There is no decision tree. No conversation flow builder. No training documents. You sign up, Mika reads your website, and you paste one line of code. That is the entire process, and it breaks down into four steps.

Step 1: Sign up (2 minutes)

Go to hiremika.com/signup and create an account. You will enter your business name, your email, and your website URL. That is it. No credit card required. No sales call. No "request a demo and wait three days for someone to email you back."

The signup takes about two minutes, and most of that time is spent deciding on a password.

Step 2: Mika scans your website (1 minute)

This is where things get interesting. The moment you enter your website URL, Mika goes to work. It reads up to 15 pages on your site, crawling through your homepage, services pages, about page, contact page, and anything else it can find. It pulls out your business name, what you do, your hours, your location, your pricing, your specialties.

No training documents. No FAQ databases. No uploading spreadsheets full of questions and answers. Mika learns your business the same way a new employee would: by reading everything on your website.

When the scan finishes, Mika already knows enough to have intelligent conversations with your visitors. If you are a plumber in Phoenix, it knows you do water heater installations and emergency repairs. If you are a salon in Miami, it knows your hours, your services, and that you are closed on Mondays. If you are a dentist, it knows you accept Delta Dental and offer Saturday appointments.

All of that happens automatically, in about 60 seconds.

Step 3: Review and customize (1 minute)

After the scan, your dashboard shows you exactly what Mika learned. You can review the information and adjust anything that needs correcting. Maybe your hours changed last week and your site is not updated yet. Maybe you want to add a service that is not on your website. Easy fixes.

This is also where you set your goals. Do you want Mika to capture leads? Book appointments? Both? You can configure guardrails too. Tell Mika not to discuss pricing, not to mention competitors, not to make promises you cannot keep. These guardrails are enforced on every single conversation, so you stay in control even when you are not watching.

Most business owners spend less than a minute here because Mika gets the details right on the first pass.

Step 4: Copy one line of code (30 seconds)

Your dashboard gives you an embed snippet that looks like this:

<script src="https://api.hiremika.com/v1/embed.js?v=3" data-key="pk_your_key_here" async></script>

Copy it. Paste it into your website, right before the closing </body> tag. Save. You are done.

The script loads asynchronously, which means it will not slow down your site. Your pages load first, then the chatbot appears in the corner. The entire widget is under 50KB. For comparison, a single hero image on your homepage is probably 20 times that size.

Where to paste the code on your platform

The embed snippet works on any website, regardless of how it was built. If your site can load a script tag, it can run Mika. Here is a quick reference for the most common platforms:

WordPress: Use the free WPCode plugin to add the snippet to your site footer. No theme editing required. Or paste it directly into your theme's footer.php file above the closing </body> tag. Full walkthrough: How to Add a Chatbot to WordPress.

Wix: Use the Velo editor or the "Custom Code" section under Site Settings to add the snippet to the body end of every page. Full walkthrough: How to Add a Chatbot to Wix.

Squarespace: Go to Settings, then Advanced, then Code Injection. Paste the snippet in the Footer field. Full walkthrough: How to Add a Chatbot to Squarespace.

Shopify: Edit your theme and paste the snippet into the theme.liquid file, right before the closing </body> tag. Full walkthrough: How to Add a Chatbot to Shopify.

GoDaddy: Use the HTML embed block in your GoDaddy Website Builder, or edit the code directly if you are on a WordPress-based GoDaddy plan. Full walkthrough: How to Add a Chatbot to GoDaddy.

Webflow: Open your project settings, go to Custom Code, and paste the snippet in the Footer Code section. Full walkthrough: How to Add a Chatbot to Webflow.

If your platform is not listed here, the process is almost always the same. Find the setting that lets you add custom code to your site footer, paste the snippet, and save.

What happens next

The moment you save, Mika is live. There is no activation step, no review period, no waiting for approval. A small chat bubble appears in the corner of your website, and visitors can start talking to it immediately.

Here is what that looks like in practice. A visitor lands on your site at 11 PM on a Tuesday. They have a question about your services. Instead of staring at a contact form and deciding it can wait until tomorrow (it will not, they will forget), they type their question into the chat. Mika responds instantly with a helpful, accurate answer based on your actual business information.

The conversation continues naturally. The visitor asks a follow-up question. Mika answers. Eventually, the visitor shares their name and email because they want to schedule something or learn more. You get a lead notification in your inbox. All of this happened while you were asleep.

Mika works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It does not call in sick, it does not take lunch breaks, and it does not put visitors on hold. If you serve Spanish-speaking customers, Mika handles that too, responding in fluent Spanish without any additional setup.

"But what if Mika says something wrong?"

This is the question every business owner asks, and it is a good one. The short answer: guardrails.

Mika is not a general-purpose AI that will happily discuss anything under the sun. It is scoped to your business. It only knows what is on your website and what you have told it in your dashboard. It will not make up services you do not offer. It will not invent pricing. It will not promise things you cannot deliver.

Beyond that, you set explicit guardrails during setup. Tell Mika never to discuss competitor businesses, never to negotiate on pricing, never to give medical or legal advice. Those rules are enforced on every message, every conversation, every time. If a visitor tries to push the conversation off-topic, Mika steers it back.

You can also review every conversation in your dashboard. See exactly what visitors asked, what Mika said, and whether any leads were captured. Full transparency, full control.

Five minutes, one line of code, zero excuses

Let's recap. Sign up in two minutes. Wait one minute while Mika scans your site. Spend one minute reviewing what it learned. Copy and paste one line of code in 30 seconds. That is it. Your website now has an AI assistant that answers questions, captures leads, and books appointments around the clock.

No developer. No monthly meetings about chatbot strategy. No decision trees. No training documents. No six-figure budget.

The visitors are already on your site. Right now, most of them are leaving without saying a word because your contact form feels like homework and your "we will get back to you within 24-48 hours" promise is not cutting it. Give them someone to talk to, and they will talk.

Try the live demo to see how Mika handles a real conversation. When you are ready, sign up free and have it running on your site before your coffee gets cold.

Ready to start capturing more leads?

Mika lives on your website 24/7, answers visitor questions in English and Spanish, and sends you warm leads. No forms, no coding, no ongoing work.
