How to Add a Chatbot to Your GoDaddy Website in 5 Minutes

GoDaddy's website builder does not have a chatbot feature. Here is how to add one with a simple HTML embed, no developer needed.

GoDaddy is one of the most popular website builders for small businesses. It is simple, affordable, and gets you online fast. But when it comes to adding a chatbot, GoDaddy's builder does not offer one. There is no chatbot in the feature list, no app marketplace, and no obvious way to add custom scripts.

That does not mean you are stuck. GoDaddy does have an HTML embed feature, and that is all you need.

Why GoDaddy does not have a chatbot (and why that is fine)

GoDaddy's website builder is designed to be simple. It handles the basics well: pages, images, contact forms, scheduling, and online store. But it deliberately keeps things streamlined, which means fewer built-in features compared to WordPress or Shopify.

For chat, GoDaddy points you toward their "Website Messages" feature, which is essentially a contact form that sends you an email. It is not a conversation. The visitor fills out a form, submits it, and waits for you to respond. That is not what people expect in 2026.

The good news: GoDaddy lets you add custom HTML to any page, and that is all you need to add a real chatbot.

The one-line solution

The chatbot is a single script tag:

<script src="https://api.hiremika.com/v1/embed.js?v=3" data-key="pk_your_key_here" async></script>

It loads asynchronously, so it does not slow down your site. It runs in its own iframe, so it cannot break anything on your page. And it works on every device, desktop and mobile.

How to add it (step by step)

GoDaddy's website builder does not have a global "code injection" feature like some other platforms, but it does have an HTML section you can add to any page. Here is how.

Method 1: HTML section (GoDaddy Website Builder)

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account and open your Website Builder
  2. Navigate to the page where you want the chatbot (usually your homepage)
  3. Click Add Section and scroll down to find HTML
  4. Click to add the HTML section
  5. Paste the script tag:
<script src="https://api.hiremika.com/v1/embed.js?v=3" data-key="pk_your_key_here" async></script>
  1. Replace pk_your_key_here with your actual public key from your Mika dashboard
  2. Click Done and then Publish

The chatbot will appear on that page. Repeat for any other pages where you want it.

Tip: To get the chatbot on every page, add the HTML section to each page. GoDaddy does not have a global footer code option in their standard builder, so you will need to add it to each page individually. Most small business sites have 3 to 5 pages, so this takes a couple of minutes.

Method 2: GoDaddy WordPress hosting

If you are using GoDaddy's WordPress hosting (not the Website Builder), you have full access to WordPress and can follow the WordPress installation guide instead. All three methods (WPCode, theme footer, page builders) work on GoDaddy-hosted WordPress sites.

Method 3: GoDaddy with cPanel (legacy hosting)

If you are on GoDaddy's older cPanel hosting with a custom HTML site, you can add the script tag directly to your HTML files, just above the closing </body> tag. This is the same as adding any third-party script to a static website.

Which GoDaddy plans support this?

The HTML embed feature is available on all paid GoDaddy Website Builder plans:

  • Basic: HTML embed supported.
  • Standard: HTML embed supported.
  • Premium: HTML embed supported.
  • Ecommerce: HTML embed supported.

If you have a published GoDaddy site, you can add the chatbot.

What happens after you publish

The chatbot appears on your site immediately. If you have already signed up and Mika has learned your business during onboarding, visitors can start asking questions right away. They get instant answers about your services, hours, and pricing. When they are ready, they share their contact info and you get a lead notification in your inbox.

No setup beyond pasting the code. Mika already knows your business from scanning your website during signup.

"Will it slow down my GoDaddy site?"

No. The script loads asynchronously, meaning your page content loads first and the chatbot loads in the background. The entire widget is under 50KB gzipped. It also runs in its own isolated iframe, so it cannot affect your site's layout, styling, or any other features.

Common questions

Does it work on GoDaddy mobile sites? Yes. GoDaddy's builder creates responsive sites, and the chatbot is fully responsive too. It works on all screen sizes.

Does it work with GoDaddy Online Store? Yes. The chatbot runs independently and does not interfere with your store, cart, or checkout.

Does it conflict with GoDaddy's built-in "Messages" feature? No. GoDaddy Messages is a contact form, not a chat widget. They serve different purposes and do not conflict. Most businesses keep the chatbot and remove the contact form, since the chatbot captures the same information in a more conversational way.

Can I customize how it looks? On the Pro plan, you can match the chatbot's brand colors to your GoDaddy site. On all plans, the chatbot is designed to look natural alongside your content.

I have a GoDaddy domain but my site is on another platform. If your site is hosted on WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, or another builder (and you just bought the domain from GoDaddy), follow the installation guide for your actual website builder. GoDaddy is just managing your domain in that case.

The bottom line

GoDaddy does not have a built-in chatbot, but that does not mean your site has to go without one. An HTML embed, a few minutes, and your GoDaddy site goes from a static brochure to a 24/7 lead capture machine.

Your visitors are already there. Give them someone to talk to.
